I think im doing this right...(new guy)

I have an ithaca 10 ga double barrel shotgun with hammers and would like to know more about it.
History , year made , Is it worth anything , Is it too old to shoot? I understand I need to find some low brass to shoot in it if so. Do I have a rare gem or just some old junk?
I found the numbers on the shotgun but being that I'm at work I don't remember what they were. 4 digits... Just don't remember them. Will post later.

Thanks for all your help

Never too old to shoot with proper loads. Condition has more to do than age. So as mentioned, we need to see pics and some description to condition. Is the action tight and any major pitting in the bores? Would be nice to know barel wall thickness as wewll. Pics will tell a lot about other aspects of condition.

There were three different Ithaca Gun Co. hammer doubles. The first was the Baker Model which was made from the founding of the company in the early 1880s into 1887, when it was replaced by the New Ithaca Gun (NIG) at serial number 6550. The NIG was made from 1887 to 1914 and NIGs were serial numbered right along with Crass, Lewis, Minier and early Flues Model hammerless doubles. In 1915 Ithaca Gun Co. introduced a rather short-lived hammer version of the Flues called the Two-Bolt Model which used coil main-springs. With a four-digit serial number your gun is either a Baker Model or a NIG from 1887 to 1889.

There is a much better Ithaca serial number chronology in the Second Edition of Walter Snyder's book The Ithaca Gun Company -- From the Beginning. The chronology in the link above ignores the NIG and omits the Minier Model, making it pretty useless.

Sorry I filled up the tread with screw ups but hey im still learning here haha. I think ive got it figured out now. Thanks RockDoc. I have more pics if anyone wants them. The only thing I see wrong with the gun is that the stock has a little piece missing near the trigger. I dont think will cause any problems with shooting but Im guessing it will in the value department.
