Hi all,
I realize that this is not the 'specialist' forum for my question, but I trust the knowledge base here.
You may remember my thread on the german 'Reduzierhülse'
by this chap 'Samereier' in Bavaria who machines cartridge cases with a reduced interiour volume for cheap, low pressure loads in the original caliber.
In my case (for the 'Otto Bock' Suhl 1939 combination gun) -
a .222Rem case with the volume of a .22 Hornet for the .222Rem barrel insert (Einstecklauf) in the 16g top barrel.
I have tried the loads I could find on the net and 3 - 5 grs of Unique are OK - but I dislike the dirt in the gun from the (old batch) of Unique!
My question:
I have a load of Vitavuohri N140 (about 1.5 Kg) powder left (from .308 days)
and would like to know whether I can get a load for this cartridge (basically a .22 Hornet in a .222 case) to give me anything between 1500 and 2500 FPS with VV N140? (Speer 50gr SP - 1029)
I've got Speer 50gr SP bullets and am thinking of Sierra Varminter Blitz 50 or 45gr to buy for the full loads (N120)
I am getting old (which is the reason I don't seem to be able to put this question in a shorter form) and do not really want to invest in Quickload or similar for this, surely the only reloading question for the rest of my life that cannot be answered by Google.
Anyone who might have some loads or has access to Quickload for this specific one?
Would be very much obliged
Trajectories I should be able to work out myself, I suppose, once I've got the Velocity(ies)
case volume: 22 Hornet (actually minus 10% - but that I can live with)
bullet: either the Speer 50gr 1029 which I have, or the Sierra Varminter Blitz 45gr and 50 gr which I am about to buy for the standard reloads.
Thanks and regards from England
Günter
