There seem to be threads from time to time about 'dream guns', 'money no object guns' or 'if you could only have one gun what would it be ?' on shooting sites but I'd like to put a slightly different question to you all...

Do you have a gun you always tend to use for general shooting ?
It could be one that just seems to fit you, a reliable workhorse or one that'd go out in all weathers that may be a bit 'beat up' and scratched but you'd still be annoyed if you dropped it while climbing a gate.
You may reach past your best or most treasured guns to pick it out to use more than anything.
Mine's an AYA No.3 20 bore with 27 inch barrels. Not a top class gun but it does the job well and is nice and light to carry. It's not neglected, it gets a clean just as I would clean and check my English guns after a good day out. It's slowly becoming my favourite.
So... What's yours and why ?

If I had to go back to one gun only my working gun would be the 12ga Fox Sterlingworth I've owned and shot for over 40 years.

For bird guns, I cannot possibly narrow it below two, one for dove and quail, the other for waterfowl, pigeons, pheasant, clays.

Doves and quail, my 20 ga. 687 Silver Pigeon II Sporting, hands down the deadliest gun on birds I've ever owned:

For ducks, clays, etc. it's the 3" chambered 30" barreled 12 ga. BSS.

I've got lots of other S x Ss that I wish I shot better, but it is what it is.
