My nephew is edging toward a double. Cabela in Canada doesn't have a Dickinson. I suggested that his closeted 12ga SKB 100 F/M may make a good choice if he opened left barrel to modified and it could handle steel. All his shooting is ducks and geese, with Nos. 2 and 3 shot for the latter. That's cutting it pretty fine. What do you think, please?

I think it would be fine.

King, my dedicated steel shot double is a 12ga '60s or 70's Miroku/Daly with the chokes opened to IC and Mod. I shoot steel twos and have had no trouble at all.
I'd agree with Stan that the SKB would be fine if the full choke barrel is opened to Mod., but would also point out that Mod choke shoots steel in a pretty tight pattern so it might be more useful to open to IC and MOD...Geo

I have a 12 ga. Browning BSS I bought new in 1985. I had the F/M chokes opened to IC/M and have shot thousands of rounds of Steel Duck and Goose loads through it with no problems. The SKB should work the same.

Thank you. We'll proceed along those lines. I needed second opinions!

many claim skb barrels handle steel shot with no problem. have yet to hear of a problem...still, i would be wary of shooting steel through any full choked barrel.
keep it simple and keep it safe...
