My WR 12ga is ser#'d on the forend wood.
Stamped in the left bbl inlet, reading from breech to muzzle.

The guns ser# on the trigger guard has a T prefix. If I put that into the WR historical look-em-up, it shows made in 1915.
W/O the prefix, it shows mfg'r in 1889.
The frame, bbls and any other ser#'d part other than the trigger guard show only the 4 digit serial number,,no prefix.

So I don't know when it was made,,but it shows that at least in this case they stamped the number into the wood on the forend, and where & when..
