I have a small gun shop here in Cedar Rapids, IA. A customer brought the following in for an appraisal and it is outside of my expertise. Any input from the experts would be greatly appreciated.

Captain where I'm at it would go for about $1000-$1200 max. Hammer drillings aren't all that sought after.

I really like hammer drillings as long As the rifle ammunition is available. This one appears to be a relatively simple model yet in fairly good shape in I THINK 9.3x72r. I would need better pictures of the writing underneath the barrel To be certain of this.. I would venture if you wanted to sell it and not have it sit for a long time, maybe $1500? Best thing would to be to put on gunbroker.

what condition are the bores in, � also as everyone knows the majority of these are short chambered and ammo for the shotgun barrels is usually hard to find, but not impossible, as for the 9.3x72, this cartridge performs like the 38-55 , very similar ballistics, gd for moderate ranges its an appealing gun to collectors, , im located in eastern canada, i see drillings go for the 1500-3000 range, depending on makers name, cond, and calibers and gauge of shotgun barrels, commonly 16. most i see are short chambered also are the barrels damascus or regualar steel, that also affects value, but easy 1500$ value for a quick sale, but id honestly want more if it was mine, id probably ask around the 2200$ mark

I just bought 3 hammerless drillings all mid 1930's 2 in 8x57 and the other in 9x70 mauser. All were $1100 to $1300.

Seems like I am getting a concensus here on value, thanks. Barrels are not damascus but very clean bores, rifling fairly strong. Can anyone give any information as to the name "A. Schon xxxx that is on top of the barrels?
Oh, and 1 big caveat; all 3 firing pins are seized. I will address that after I determine value.

well if its not functioning mechanically, that will deter value, and with rifling thats fairly strong, and not shiny and strong, also another negative against it, however, im leaning as is worth, to about 12 -1500 tops, if its fuction is returned to it being a gd shooting gun,maybe 2000$

It has what looks to be 3 unique JY tube stamps as well as the Express stamp from June 1929. I'd say with that it should approach $1500 U.S. of A. The locks are similar to what F.W. Ke�ler offered. He was active at least by post WWI and more than likely up till WWII. I believe he was an actual maker and was sourced by the trade, of the likes of Heim & others.

The markings for the rifle bbl certainly look proper for the 9.3x72R cartridge & it was proofed in June of 1929. Rifle bbl was Nitro Proofed for a 200gr Copper Jacketed Bullet. Loaded at the Nitro level the 9.3x72 is near the equivelent of the .35 Rem 200 grain load, a good notch above the Black Powder .38-55 level. Also more on the order of a good stout .38-55 handload in a 94 Win with nickle steel bbl.
