I have bought twenty plus stocks from Richter. Each one was well dried, good grain flow and well described. Some from Ebay which he sells under the Quaking Aspen seller name and some direct from his website. They are the best Ebay seller for stocks but that is not saying that much. Not every stock they sell is perfect but they are perfect in description and take some of the best photos showing all sides and the end grain with highlights of any potential problem such as burls, checking or grain chipping. I think that Ebay gets many of the stocks leftover from their other sales sites so they tend to be a mix from low grade to very high grade.

I have bought two stocks from Goby and they were as described.

Hi SKB:

I have some walnut that was cut here in Pennsylvania. This has been in storage for both 35 and 45 years. There are two lots. Some of it is very straight grained with very close "growth rings" as it was on the top of a ridge in the wind all of its life. I made a rifle stock from a piece and it looks very nice.

The other lot is from a 48" tree that was on the mountain 45 years ago and it has more of an typical grain that is seen on higher end guns. Not plain but not great.

Let me know if you are interested in this wood. Srnd me a PM for more details.

Stay well,

Franchi

There's a walnut outfit in Strawberry Pt. Iowa??? Home of the worlds largest strawberry??? My mom's home town?? WTF!!! Never knew that. How cool!!

There is a black walnut place in Council Bluffs Iowa too. SKB (Sakaba) used to buy their black walnut from them for their guns back in the day.
