I have an excellent source for thin shell European walnut but a current project demands a quality piece of American Walnut. I'm not looking for fancy, just dense and tight grained. Thanks.

I've never bought anything from them, but do have a link and remember that they had the reddish colored black walnut, were family operated, had been in business for some time and had a good references. http://johnsonwoodproducts.com/gunstock_blanks

Johnson's is a very good outfit and have been in business since the early/mid 60's. I bought my first blank from them in 1969. I.D. Johnson is gone now and his son Randy runs the business. I even sold them some walnut logs in the 60's before I started sawing myself.

I would second Watts, but I have no experience with the others mentioned. Easy guy to deal with.

His Circassian selection looks pretty appealing too.

Such a long, long time to be gone, and a short time to be there.

Terry Wilcox in Fayetteville, NC. I am sure he has a web site. He has a ton of great wood. I can probably get a phone number if you can't find him.
