I have 20 of them in the box, we will see how many I mess up before I get one right.

Is there any place that I could buy one already formed, and ready to go? I know that may be a wildly optimistic question, but had to ask. hutch

Hutch, You might try Buffalo Arms, they load some custom ammo,or check with other custom handloaders. There is a new(relative term)cartridge made for insert barrels(einstecklauf), known as 6x70R Krieghoff.Huntington Die Specialities, has this brass from time to time.I'm pretty sure this brass will chamber in your rifle, and if so, you could fireform it.Bertram might have formed cases, I don't know.If you get desperate enough to come to Alabama,I will try to help you. Hutch, Sounds like you are halfway there if you have workable brass on hand & a chamber cast, I see CH4D lists dies (call Dave for availability) Thought I saw Mike mention he had some originals if trying to establish factory dimensions, if not he has instructed you in how to cobble up a couple for fireforming which will result in formed brass to fit your chambers. I have a couple pieces of original brass in my collection & if I can be of any help let me know or PM your ph# if you would like to chat & I will give you a call.

https://www.gunbroker.com/item/1119079605It appears the original poster has the hammer Biks(hahn Büchsflinte for the language intolerant) Borovlje Platform up for auction. It appears the extractor component might be a replacement? Anyway, Jani and I were tossing emails back & forth on Franz Sodia in the 1920s & 1930s and how Franz Sodia was heavily promoting the 6,5X70R Sauer(feel free to add whatever moniker you fancy) during these two decades and that the cartridge was offered for-sale up to maybe the 1960s? So what characteristics make this pencil cartridge so acceptable during the time? Low Pressure? Meets the Criteria for all the Game in the Region? Low Recoil? Ease of reloading possibly coupled with a small amount of powder? Why would Franz Sodia go so far as to have his own headstamp and possible a proprietary round? Now Franz Sodia carried a lot of weight in Borovlje as his offerings often lack a full regiment of marks and he seems to have had a bias w/ the Ferlach Proof Facility? Hochachtungsvoll, Raimey rse

The cited gun has been recently refinished and is currently located in Texas. This leads to a reasonable fear that the barrels may have been "hot salts" blued--- but no proof of this. Mike

Ford I do not think the gun has left Texas, nor the possession of the original poster. I can get Baumgarten to smell of it & tell us....
But what about the cartridge Ford, the cartridge?

The 6.5x70 R was developed to about equal the 6.5x58R or 6.5x52R (aka 25-35Win.) for hunting Roe, but in very light KLBs and combination guns. The cases are a problem; I have a couple samples in my "pile". About the only case I could use as a donor would be 6x70R Krieghoff and I don't have a reliable source for them. I guess the 6.5x70 could be re-drawn from 5.6x50R but I don't have the ability and am not sure the 5.6 can be re-drawn to 70mm anyway. The bullet for this cartridge is not usually .264-5", rather it is .260-1". My 6.5x48R and 6.5x58R both use the smaller bullet, so I'm already in good shape for bullets. I think if I could find a super light KLB in that caliber; I would battle the case availability. Otherwise, I think I'm too old to make it worthwhile. A young lad like Raimey may have enough time left to take such a project on. Mike
