I think your 100 % correct as I understand the laws that apply
If in fact a claim was paid to settle a policy that was in effect at the time of the guns disappearance (theft or loss) .... the only entity, that for now can lay claim to these guns is whomever paid monies to settle that claim. I think there is a time frame that if not claimed, the guns can be sold as "unclaimed property" ... but I have no idea what and how long that is, and it is my understanding that "Clock" doesn't start ticking until the guns were recovered !?!?
I'm just glad the community did not have to "back track" and lots of people hire Lawyers to sort things out after the auction !!!
