+1 on Hugh Lomas. He did some 1927 Evans barrels for me, took them apart, blacked them, straightened the ribs and relaid them, first class job. A top rate English gunsmith. Precision Arms, in Ontario, another English gunsmit with an excellent reputation.

The gun was advertised as "needs sleeving" since it isn't a candidate for sleeving shouldn't a refund be made by the prestigious seller ? Truth is jOe, the seller did offer me full credit for what I paid him for the Boss against the Purdey he has/had for sale about the same time. As long as I have the Boss, it will be a candidate for sleeving; maybe not now but later with improved technology. I was pretty sure it was safe to post again about the Boss because surely you'd gotten over gloating about being right about the gun. Oh well...Geo

Kirk Merrington is doing better and is producing work again. Of guns I sent him before his illness, I had one gun back last month and the second is promised for January. His illness was a concern to anyone who appreciates quality work.
I would recommend Kirk highly.
Reference the new ribs, both Kirk and Hugh Lomas should be able to do a quality job with the correct weight barrels

Any gun that needs the barrels replacing either by new barrels or sleeving is a prospective candidate . How ever it is the man who will carry out the work who must make a final decision and that can be based on several factors . Such as the profile of the old tubes comparativly against that of new tubes available ,so unless you have tubes custom made which could efectivly double the cost of the job ,the out come will not be satisfactory to either him or to the customer . Non of us want to put our names on work that we wuold not be happy with . For this reason alone I have turned down many thousands of pound of work over my working life .Like all work it can be done if the price is right and the risks are accepted by both parties but unless you actualy do the work your self you can only be guided by those that do . Problem is that there are many dealers in all countries that do not full comprehend what is practical and what is not .

HomelessjOe,
Why don't you use your real name and home town to identify yourself on this forum? You certainly think nothing of being a complete imbecile while hiding in anonymity. Frank, Bob, whatever your pseudonym de jour may be. Man up or shut up. You're officially an Internet troll, congratulations.
