jOe is The Trickster, the Disruptive Influence, the Jester, who shows up, lobs a verbal grenade that strips away pretense and pretention, and then leaves until he's needed again. The more exasperated the person complaining about him, the more he's needed - nothing personal, of course.

I like having him here.

So do I plus I really don't understand why the moniker Homeless Joe is a bad thing & RookHawk is apparently all right. Whether everyone likes it or not Joe puts out a lot of good info.
Hang in there Joe.

Joe casts aspirsions on others who stand by the light of day with an admitted name, locale and occupation. He on the other hand, offers none of those things.

His slander against others is real whereas when he's exhausted his use for his current persona, he'll just create another one. This individual has been put on notice countless times by the moderators and yet he persists all the more.

He is a coward and behaves on a sophomoric fashion at all times. He is eternally negative, condescending and pessimistic.

If he'd give his full name and location and still act the way he does, then I'd respect him. As he stands, he's just a disruptive influence that hides behind a keyboard behaving in a way no person would act in public.

There's a wealth of knowledge and info here. I respect the opinions of many who often lob grenades at one another. jOe knows guns and if anyone has ever taken the time to call or write him off forum they know what I mean. There's more behind his one-liners than you may think. If one wants to feel good or receive affirmation about a gun, don't look to jOe. He will give his honest opinion and it might not be easy on the eyes or ears and what you hoped to read or hear.

I totally agree with GLS' assesmant. I will reveal one little bit of info here. I have not contacted Joe off Forum, but he once contacted me by PM. I had gone longer than normal without posting to the forum & he PM'd me to make sure I was OK. He did reveal his name to me as well as contact info. I did reply to him that I was OK that I had just been tied up with other things & nothing much had been on the forum at that time I was particularlly interested in. This is something not a "SINGLE" one of his detractors did. I am not complaining that no one else did, not something I am likely to do either, but "JOE DID". I will of course keep his name in confidence, anyone he wants to know it, he can tell them. I have never met him personally, but have the feeling he is actually a very warm & caring person. I believe he is very knowledgable in his assesmant of guns & just doesn't like to see people throw "Good" money at "Bad" guns in a buyer's Heat. It is of course up to anyone to accept or ignore his recommendations. If however one chooses to ignore, then later decides to sell & is unable to recoup their investment, they were warned.
As to location he has of course let it be know on numerous occasions that he hails from Memphis, TN.

Adam,

I will PM you the name and number of a guy that does this type of work. He does a lot of Rifle and slug conversions on SxS actions. Smoothbore work is basically the same, just with less regulation work being needed.

One thing that I can say is that unless your starting gun is a heavy frame, with a lot of meat in the chamber area, sleeving (or monoblocking) to the same guage may not be able to be done. A lot of times, you have to step down a guage when doing this. That is to ensure a safe joint.

I completely agree, my only beef with jOe is when someone new to the board is asking questions about a family heirloom, jOe could be a bit more thoughtful and pleasant with his remarks. However, his knowledge is obvious and even though he's usually coming from a different perspective than my own bottom-feeders perspective (another area we often disagree) I still value his opinion (even though I doubt if he values mine very much LOL).
