I do not own a Rem 1894. However, you list 5 steps, should there not be 6. It would seem to me that step 4 after removing forend should be remove bbls. I cannot imagine that one could remove the extractor/ejectors with the gun still closed.

The parts breakdown does not show the bbls. However one can clearly see the cutout in the lower portion of the extractor leg into which the retaining screw fits. After removal of that screw from the bbl lug the extractor should slide right out.
