Correct me if I'm wrong, friends, but is it not true that a 16 ga shotgun bore measures and is stamped between 16.9-17.1mm depending on who made it and when, while a 20 ga shotgun bore comes in at 16.0mm? The owner says he miked the shotgun bore out at 15.8mm which, assuming he miked it at the muzzle, would give him a 20 ga with about .007-.008 choke.

I recall a similar incident occurring about a year ago on the 16ga website where a guy was going on all proud about his newly acquired 16 ga (a Belgian, IIRC) until he tried to load purple power into it and couldn't.

Happens.

Still, if this is an Austrian cape gun in 20ga x 6.5xsomething, it seems a nice light combo for going up in the mountains after the critters that live up high. Chamois and truthahn come to mind right off.

I did mike it at the muzzle. When I get my casting material ( 1/2 Lb of Cerrosafe) if I have enough, I will cast the shotgun chamber as well. I posted additional cape11-18 pictures of the scope to my cloud link. I see no other markings on the scope other than what is on the top. It has interesting "cross hairs" not a standard pattern.

All done with the rifle chamber casting. The cartridge length measurement shown on my crude annotation on the pink paper is not clear where the measurement starts and stops for the 68.19mm. It is from the rim where the 9.2mm diameter is to the edge of the 1st step at the 7.5mm diameter. Interesting , that little extra step before the rifling begins. I did measure that diameter as 7.24mm. see casting photo added to my cloud at

At a glance it looks to be aforementioned 6.5X70R or 6.5X70R Nimrod. I have a surplus of boat-tail grackles and crows from this a.m., so Ford, do you want me drop the black-bird pie off at your house??? Wait till after the 1st & I can mix in some squirrel to make it more palatable.

With the 7.76mm measurement, I wonder how the tilde factors in to the proof equation?

Raimey,
Just make sure it's still hot.Fred Thompson said,in the Senate, that if you have to eat crow,it's better to eat it hot.
