I apologise in advance as this is a little off topic but you all shoot so you might find this interesting.
I took a few photos at the ground last week and these are three that worked there are about 300 that didnt!!!
For the technically minded I was using a Nikon D40 a fairly basic digital SLR with a 55 200 lens. Camera shutter set at 1/4000 sec and I left it to sort out its own film speed equivalent and aperture but I see it chose f14 for one of the shots. I did have to crop them a little.

I wont bore you with the other 297!!!!

Incredible pictures. The first one shows the effect of the bow wave while the shot is still supersonic.

That first bird made it through unscathed, just like the ones I shoot at and swear I nailed, right? cry

Glad you enjoyed the photos - i was surprised i managed to get anything. I had thought of using video and frezzing a frame - but i don't do video and apparently you need something the BBC have difficulty affording to slow down that sort of motion with a long lens - so what hope have i got??

Amazing photography.
What size shot is that which shows up so clearly in the photos?

I don't know what shot size the guys were using but it would have been 28gms of No. 7 1/2 or 8 - so nothing large.
I did incease the contrast slightly to make them stand out a bit better - but only a little.
I pre focused the camera using manual on where i thought they would shoot the clay as the automatic focus does not pick up on small object and is too slow.
