AmarilloMike, Rockdoc - I was't clear enough in my post. It's not about state land vs. organized preserve, it's about being able to allot only about half a day per month for this. Me alone could have gone out more often, but I don't think it's fair when I go out and play, while my love, who enjoys this as much as I do, stays home babysitting.
On the other hand, next weekend we're going to my in-laws, and they have that bit of public access within 30 minutes drive, and if I manage drag her out, well, any African safary wouldn't be more fun!
Shane T - get well soon! [...]it happens, just stay away from the outdoor channels ... they seem to be filled with bows and big game more than anything else

Cameron - isn't it funny how work and hunting (aka play) are supposed to be alternative choices, but, in reality, if you work you can't hunt, but if you don't work you can't hunt either?

KY John - Two Ivy League? That's something to be proud of! Maybe your future is filled with trips your sons will take you to?
Have fun whatever you're at, all!
