I believe the barrel construction is what we call monoblock today. This method was first introduced & patented by Henri Pieper though to my knowledge he never used that term. His first version was constructed different from his one, though he did later use a similar process, though not sure if he had a patent in the modified version or not.
To my understanding demi-block is another term for chopper Lump, a totally different joining process.

For simple (and probably reasonably cheap) engraving, that vine and flower pattern is much more tasteful than many I've seen.

For example I have two Antonio Zoli "Silver Hawk" SxSs, one done by a competent engraver (a 3" 12) and the other by a dub (a 3" 20).

They use a "scroll-like" pattern that would better have been omitted IMO. Fortunately, I don't keep them "for pretty"--they shoot where they look, even though they don't look good doing it....
