I talked to Mr.Otis on the phone in the 70's and he assured me his A1 .410 was a legitimate gun and not an upgrade. He was very smooth and polite to some Iowa yokel who just had to pick his brain after reading about his collection of .410 Parkers. I believe he had over 20 at one time.

I thought Otis Odum lived in Alabama??? I recollect an article in Shooting Sportsman regarding the A-1 .410 swap for the Benjamin Harrison Lefever. The article was 10 years ago or more...Geo

George, I sure would like to reread that Shooting Sportsman article. Do you know which issue?

Sorry Eightbore, I don't have the magazine anymore. The article was only a half page as I recall and included a photo of Odum with the Optimus. It had to have been in the 1996 to 2002 range I think...Geo

This is an Optimus Grade with Spangler's name engraved on the bottom of the circle. It is not the Harrison Optimus gun. Hold down Ctrl and + to enlarge picture (don't forget to hold Ctrl and - to reduce it).
This will give you an idea of his dogs and his scroll work as Roger has stated. Now whether Spangler did the Baker-Smith Quality 5, sure looks like it, but I'm not an expert and the picture gets distorted blown up.

Daryl,

The SC. is the more commonly found form.
