The curriculum at the college that 'employs' me is based upon the great works of Western Civilization, which each student matriculates through- there are no majors, or grades for that matter, rather a lot like the old fashioned Oxford-Cambridge approach. The course of study is rigorous: the Greeks in the original Greek, Latin histories and philosophy, and let's not forget the overbearing German philosophers. Science classes explore the work of the early scientific pioneers- Newton, Galileo, Faraday, Maxwell, Volta, etc. (which is where I come in).
After being immersed in that all day, I like to go home and escape into modern fiction. I suppose one could say that I don't spend a lot of time in the 'real' world! Ha ha.
