I've not seen this mark before...I'll shut up and let the pictures do the talking. There's many more photos of this F grade if anyone wants to see more. The condition is better than I usually see. It came with another F missing the fore end.

Thank you Robert. 'ADH' of Arthur-Delvaux-Heuse de Fraipont has been found on Lefever, Syracuse Arms, and Baker (both Baker Gun & Forging-Twist and Batavia-Damascus) doubles. Have not seen 'JDH', and it doesn't match the names of the Syndicat des Fabricants de Canons de Fusil de la Vesdre at the bottom here

Are you sure the last letter is an "H"? Looks like more of an "M".

Ken,
Yes it's an H...you can probably see alot betterif you hold crtl and hit + and zoom the photos. Also the other F has a screw just forward of the operating lever, is that a common trait on Lefevers?

Drew,
The other F grade (missing FE) is also damascus but it stamped
GL with a crown above (like Delcours crown mark). I can post photos if you want it for your records.

thank you Bob Chambers

I agre with Ken it is not the letter "H" but sure it is the letter "M" and the maker is for sure Jean Delcour.
the letter M was used for "Manufacture"

Bob, What is the serial # range and action type on the other F grade? I have a D grade in the 13XXX range with a small screw centered just ahead of the top lever. The action is unique among my Lefevers. Most have a stop which causes the top lever to stay to the right when the gun is disassembled, until you poke the post at the bottom of the doll's head slot to release the lever and bring it back to center. On my just mentioned D grade the action is silky smooth and there is no stop that holds the top lever to the right. It always smoothly comes back to center. No need to poke a thing. Very cool.

Robert,

I have written several articles for the LACA about the origin of Lefever's barrels.

This mark has not been seen before. I am inclined to consider it an importer's stamp, unless some one can find a catalog that definitely ties it to a maker.

In a recent discussion, DUCO came into question. Daryl found this:

Pete,
Sorry, I don't understand the Fs Dumoulin connection you've made, I missed that discussion.. but I do have several Fs Dumoulin catalogs if there is something in there you're looking for..some of which can be seen with the DUCO mark on the barrels

see

Rich,
Yes, you're correct, it's in the 13 thousand range. I'll photograph that other F grade later today...the serial is 13913 but this has an unusual top lever lock-up with the pivot off center like a Westley crabjoint or a Labeille lock-up...no point in giving my perspective first, the photos should be first so readers can interpret for themselves...I'll post those pics later today or eve
