Adam,

If you don't find anything before then, a great place to look would be at the Southern S x S Fall Classic at Georgetown, SC in October. That's where I found the 16.

Good hunting!

There used to be a country song, "I overlooked an Orchid while searching for a Rose". While searching for that Elsie should you run across a Lefever 20ga don't overlook it.

My 1915 20ga LC field IC/F is as fine a light field gun I could wish for. There are more prestigious names with more adornments but this gun is elegant in its plainness and utility.

Adam, A 20 ga. Field Grade "elsie" with either 26" or 28" barrels in your neck of the woods would make a nice quail gun. I think in both length barrels, imp. cyl, and ligh modified would be ideal.
All L.C. Smiths from the factory unless ordered different were full/full. The bores were always .615.

What to be careful about is that 20 ga guns prior to the mid 1930's is that they will be 2 1/2" chambers. Guns made after this period, most will have Chambered 2 3/4 Inches on barrels water table.
This limits you to use either re-loads or a few shell manufacturers as RST.

Good luck in your decision and let us know how you make out.

Adam,

Great guns ..... if you want to shoot one, let me know. I'll meet you half way :-)

A couple of good guns/values on GB right now ... 26 inch straight grip ... killer condition, also a Double trigger ejector (unknown barrel length) pre '13 gun, not mint but a great all weather gun !!!

Be safe, Jimmy B.

Thanks guys. Are there any out there with less drop in the stocks? It seems I have a real hard time shooting these low dimensions. Jimmy, I just might take you up on that offer. Shooting before buying is always a good idea.

Thank you.

Adam
