On friday I started hitting sport shops for the gun hunt. Really wanted a 20, but hunter safety classes were in full swing and not a 20 was to be seen on the used racks. Found a tang safety vulcan, but not enough drop for my fat face.
Walked out the door with a hardly used 12ga stoger single. Fit is perfect - like grandpa's old davenport. It has a hammer - with a hammer block safety - not as good as a tang - but not that bad. Weight was a little more than I wanted, but it is ballanced well and heavy 1 1/8oz upland loads are no bother. High brass 1 1/4oz leave you with a little cheek tingle - but not bad. Plus it has choke tubes so I think I have a walking turkey gun. Picked up the gun, a gun case, an extra i.c. tube all for $80.
Now all I need for the fall is a beeper/training colar combo and a couple boxes of spreaders!!
