Roger, thanks for trying. I tried to use some photoshop type things on the second crest pics, and it helped a bit, but I have no experience with the photo shop type things. One of the problems is the engraver may have used a lettering style one is unfamiliar with. I did have some hope that the Name of Dr. J. A. Vosburgh might help our "guessing". The second gun sold a few years ago on the internet, but I did not make the effort for better pics at that time.
