These Baikal single shots (unlike some of Baikal's more upmarket offerings) are made to withstand decades of abuse in the hands of a market/subsistance hunter, native Siberian, and the like. Which includes being lugged about in the snowmobile or boat or simply on the back, no cleaning or repair (like as not no gunsmith or any human dwelling within 100 miles), firing hundreds of rounds a day in the heat of the season, then spending the other 50 weeks in an unheated cabin or hiding place, and still going bang every time, because every next shot could mean the difference between life and death. And they have been doing the job for over 60 years now (or a 100, depending on who's counting).
