The gun looks like a good working gun, but is not of the"quality"(speaking of adornment)expected of one made for nobility. The crest should be identified before getting too excited.

That's fair, Mike, but I also think it fair to say that a title and the right to use it does not necessarily coordinate to a sizeable bank account. Indeed, I think it fair to say that human nature is such that people entitled to titles stress them in inverse proportion to the size of their bank account. There are reference sources which would allow sussing out who owned that crest, if anyone.
