There is something very, very special in all this for me. I am reliving the relationship I had with my paternal grandfather by playing his part with Jackson. I was blessed with a grandfather that spent a lot of time with me in the field and on the water and, knowing how important that was to me, I intend to do the same with Jackson and his younger brother, Lane.
Funny, it seems like just yesterday that I was lying in bed the night before opening day anxiously awaiting that magical time with the men before going to the bird field, and shooting doves with them. Heck, I still feel that same excitement after 52 seasons. I was greatly blessed as a boy, and more so as a grandad. May the circle be unbroken.
Forgive me for waxing nostalgic. Memories are just so special, and helping to make them for Jackson is so important to me.
