I use the 6 o'clock hold shooting in the military matches. I like to have a bit of white showing between the target and post from sights due to changing light conditions.
I struggle with red targets as in red dots or the red Schuetzen targets although lately I have added filters on the rear aperture sights to gain a little more clarity. Benching that .400 could tend to wear on a guy after awhile!!!!!!! smile
Reminds me of a .375/.338 Mauser I had....tough to hang with it more than five shots from the bench.... it would cloverleaf if you were man enough.
