Sharps, Looks good. When you shoot at 100 yds, dont forget to let the barrels cool to ambient temp.between shots.SxS combos do funny things to the groups with a hot rifle barrel attachet to a cool shot barrel. Mike

Sharps4590, Mike makes a very good point. For example the first photo is of a target where I had previously loosened the elevation adjustment on a Zeiss Zielsech 6X scope mounted on one of my 9.3X74R double rifles. I didn't have the time that evening to alternate barrels or let the gun cool so I just fired the right barrel. The picture of the orange target is of the practice shot I took prior to a hunt a week after the adjustment. Range for both was fifty yards. As you can see the cold left barrel pulled the expanding hot right barrel over to the left roughly an inch after just four shots. Buchseman

Wow...you can sure see it walk!! I will heed the advice. 'Course in the weather we're having ambient temp. is about what a hot barrel is...lol!

I hear what you mean about your ambient temp. A very good friend of mine, who lives between Hannibal and Monroe City, has been telling me all about it. Sounds pretty bad. 100 deg F plus, and I melt after 80 deg F.

I'll tell ya what, the interent is just a fabulous thing....sometimes. I found a .678 RB mold...a little pricey but at least I found one. And, I have an 11/16 arch punch on the way to make wads. In the old days that might have taken me a month or two to find both items. Hopefully by late next week I'll have the goods to work with the 16 bore barrel. This is just getting to be too much fun. Oh...I'm also in the market for a 16 X 16 over 9.3 X 72, hammer drilling or a 16 X 9.3 X 72 Cape gun. I may sell off some of my other toys to expand this new found lust....I mean love....oh what the heck, I've been addicted to firearms all my life....I'll just find one...lol!
Yes Busche, it is miserable and miserably dry down here. We can't buy a shower or put enough in the offering plate. I remember when we were ranching and had a dry spell all the old timers never failed to say "it isn't as bad as 1936". Well, my Mom was born that year so I don't remember it but I bet I'll remember this one. Sure glad I'm not worrying about having enough hay and pasture.

Sharps, There is a Meffert BF ( o/u combo) in 16ga/9.3x72R in Auction Arms, under "Drillings". There is no reserve, the initial bid isn't bad. Take a look at it. Mike

Thank you Mike. I saw that one but O/U's aren't my cup of tea. Nothing wrong with them at all, they just don't appeal to me.

Sharps, If we all had the same taste, there would be only one color car and one happy woman in the world. I like both BFs and BBFs, but have to admit that BBFs are easier to load for and are stronger, as a general rule. Mike

Thanks Mike!! I bookmarked the site. The one drilling I liked, 16 X 16 over 9.3 X 72, has a cracked stock and it appears the wood is shrunk from the locks quite a bit. I don't know if I want to fool with one like that right now. Good price though, I thought.
None of the cape guns tripped my trigger....'s OK, I ain't in a hurry. Thanks again!
