Good buys are to be found at auctions in the U.K.. In particular 12,G, Boxlock none ejectors, by Birmingham or Provincial makers are very good value. An auction report in the D.G.J. Winter, 2006, gives the following sale result:
Edwinson Green 12,G. B.L.N.E and A. Hill 12,G. B.L.N.E sold for a combined price of 130 pounds stirling. Both guns would be be in legal proof at time of sale , Most auction houses will upon request, provide pictures and report on condition of guns prior to auction. The purchasor of the above guns reports; " After minor tidying," took these guns out for a days shooting and accounted for 85 pigeons."
To make a purchase in the U.K. you will need to obtain both export and import licences. A U.K.auctioneer recently quoted 3-500 pounds per gun [Much more than the cost of the guns!!!] to take care of export arrangements and air freight. So if you consider this option, be prepared for these costs and the frustrating task of obtaining permits.
