Roy, wet just doesn't describe things here. Yet, conversely, in the north and western parts of Scotland, which normally has its fair share of rain, there is a drought with no rain for the last five weeks there. Last Sunday was the only dry day we've had here this month.

Most pheasant shoots aren't too bad as the birds are bought in as poults. Although wet and cool it has not been too cold to really chill the wild birds but saying that I havn't seen as many wild broods out and about on my travels that I normally do. I have been trying to contact a grouse moor keeper that I know for the last few days but can't seem to get hold of him. On the higher ground where it can get colder and with grouse being wild birds only then they may have had a hard time. Grouse Keepers are eternal pessimists so I expect negative reports anyway. I am waiting for him to give me the grouse moor shoot dates where I work my two dogs so will get a more accurate picture when I see for myself. Lagopus.....
