Soft steel was an issue in the low-end Spanish guns... but it was an issue in low-end guns from ANY country. People who bad mouth all of the guns from Spain have never owned a nice Spanish double. The #56 is fine piece that has NO issues with soft steel. This is one of AYA's top models (starting a $12K) and they're built for extensive shooting. The #56 is basically the pigeon gun version on an AYA #1. They are heavier, have a slightly larger action, have a 3rd fastener, and have sideclips. You can't go wrong with one.

They are well built and just as well finished.

I miss my old 20ga #56... it was built in '71.
