bill schodlatz Sidelock Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 2,961 Likes: 9 Ruston,LA	Parker and LC Smith used shelac, when freshly mixed from flakes and alcohol it is waterproof and durable. If you let it sit in a can for weeks or years then it lacks water resistance and toughness. No it is not as tough as modern clear coat. bill
