I thought so, but was not sure. Couldn't see why anybody would choose to use TM at $3.50 a pop when they could use lead at $.35 apiece.

greypartridge,

I understood the regs, but thanks anyway. For me, the difference in shell prices is enough to keep me hunting EITHER upland OR waterfowl, independently of the other. My hunting never crosses over to where I do both at the same time.

Thanks for the explanation.

Hey Stan:

I shoot the Kent TM 16 ga. 1 1/16 load out of a heavier Parker of mine (32 inch #1.5 frame)while hunting pheasant and mallard and haven't noticed the recoil to be excessive.

I'd buy more if I could fine 'em! Do you have a source? Let me know if you do!

Regards,
Ben

Ben,
Last Spring Axman South had 12ga Bismuth and some 20ga eco loads. I haven't checked this year. I purchased the 12ga stuff to insure I could keep hunting Nine Pipes area until I die. It was heavy 1 3/8 oz. 6 shot. Wish you luck on the 16ga shells. Ben, try Brownells for TM 16ga @ $27.88 a box.
Best,
Ron

I also use RST's Nice Shot, excellent results. For hunting, I always carry nothing but the non-toxic shells, whether its RST's Nice Shot or Kent's Tungsten Matrix, they perform better than lead. With the amount of shooting I do while hunting they are more than affordable and, more importatntly, I just don't want to run into trouble with all the various and sometime confusing regulations out there today.

Here is RST's web-site information and you can order directly from them with fast service.

I have been using 16ga Kent Matrix in 1oz and 1 1/16oz for several years with very good results. Really don't see much difference in performance between them and the old lead loads I used for ducks back in the day.

Usually when duck hunting I'm wearing at least a parka or jacket and recoil does not seem to be a problem while hunting. Like mentioned before, if shooting a round of sporting clays with them, I'm sure they would get your attention as they have a bigger punch than my 3/4oz clays loads.

I bought a bunch of 10ga Federal tungsten at Cabelas on a closeout a few years ago for much less than it would cost to buy just the non-tox shot and have been breaking them down and reloading the shot for my 16ga guns.

Fyi, Kent also makes their 12ga 2.5" paper hull, fiber wad 1 1/16oz TM #6 and plastic hull/fiber wad #5 load. The #5 load is absolutely incredible for pheasants and decoyed ducks in my 2.5" chambered Lefever 12. I'll be trying the 16ga 1 1/6 #5 load this year as well and I'm curious to see if performance is similar. I'm assuming it will be, but each gun is different.
