Anyone have any experience with the above 16 gauge non - tox ammo.
Have heard of excessive recoil......but not sure if commenters have actual experience using this ammo.
Will be using in modern SXS in the 6lb 4oz range.

Paul, I use them in my 16 gauge and it weighs the same as yours. There is noticeable recoil in the bigger loads. Kent's shells mean business!!!

Here is an e-mail Kent sent me about their chamber pressure ratings.

We have had a couple of models in the past of the 16g TM, so the pressure on each of those:

1 oz. is 8900
1 1/16 oz. is 9600
1 1/4 oz is 10,000

I love em and will buy more!!! smile

I remember the 1 1/4 oz Kent TM 16ga loads. They're no longer offered, but they did have a pretty nasty bite. But then so did the 16ga 1 1/4 oz lead "magnum" loads. The 1 1/16 oz shells currently offered are a good bit gentler. Remember, recoil is almost entirely a function of shot charge weight and velocity, not pressure.

I think Federal still offers the 1-1/4 oz. As the Kent's were, this is 3-1/4 dr.eq. -- a 16 ga. load like the classic 12 ga. pigeon load. Not pleasant in a 6 lb. gun, but not a problem in one of the heavier 16s.

Thank you for the reply(s). The 1-1/4 oz load did sound a little stout. Will now try the 1-1/16 oz shells.....probably in 5 shot.....should be good for the mallards and pheasants I run into on the same farms.

I have been shooting the TM 16ga 1 1/16 oz. and 1 1/4 oz. loads for a long time. The Beretta SxSs weight from 6.25 lbs. to 6 3/4 lbs. The recoil isn't a problem for me in a normal 6 shot day. It would not be fun for clays. TM does put a bird down with authority and makes the dogs work easy.
Good Shooting,

You guys are using this on ducks, right? Or on lands where lead is not allowed?

Stan,
I use it where needed. The upland on Federal land requires it in Western Montana on the reservation south of Flat Head Lake. This is upland and ducks and geese. Like usual the geese get a larger shot.

Years ago I shot the 1 1/16 loads. At the time I was shooting a 6.2 lbs Italian OU 16ga. Recoil was an issue for me.

You might want to consider Nice Shot as they have more of a selection and it has similar performance to TM.

Stan,
If you are hunting any waterfowl along with upland game you are not allowed to have lead shotshells in your possession.

MD2 thanks......looks as same pressures and such as Kent Matrix 1 1/16 oz load.

Who else is using Nice Shot?
Paul
