Your original question was about intrinsic value of a gun. In commerce such as this there is intrinsic and market value. Intrinsic value usually pertains to things such as businesses wherein one can establish a value based on productivity; value of patents held, plant and markets.
Market value is what you can sell it for. A Picasso or Holbein as no intrinsic value but they may have a market value.
Guns are more like that - I don't think you gun has an intrinsic value but it has a market value. And that is what the LC Smith collectors could estimate for you.
