Vic Venters is co-hosting with me and we just booked our flights.
We are going to South Africa with Athina Hunting Tours to host the Shooting Sportsman 'Readers & Writers' shoot.
It will be a week shooting game birds and pigeons and a few wildfowl. We have been to this location before and it is great sport.
I'll be out again in September and we organise trips two or three times a year. Looking forward to it. This time I'll be shooting half the time and taking photographs the other half. I hope that improves the quality of my photographs!
Next year we are discussing the possibility of taking out a team of shooters and supplying a vintage gun in every bore from .410 to 12-bore and rotating the guns, with prizes for the best scores on pigeons with each, over the week. should provide some interesting data with everyone using every gun at least one session. Have to work out the details but it would make an interesting trip.

Sounds like a smashing good time, Dig. Don't forget to calculate in your shutter speed when you're leading those birds with the camera. SRH
May God bless America and those who defend her.

I thought we'd grab a gun or two in each gauge out of current stock - there are some interesting 28-bores and 20-bores as well as a little .410 boxlock and some nice 12-bores. I think some of those long barreled small bores would do quite well on the pigeons, once one got into the swing.

Can we expect a book or two about African wing shooting adventures?

Kiri has a nice little H&H hammer sidelever 16, which would do nicely. I have one or two as well.

Tell you what- "Digster" You get me either one of the matched pair of Boss 12 bore game guns Lewis Drake has for sale- 29" barrels, DT, SLE- none better- and I'll shoot that all week long for money, Tusker Beer and Penn Yan pickles- and as for no other gun or "midget gauge"--I love to shoot feral pigeons, but even though over here they are "%$#@-Birds- at least in the dairy barnyards where I shoot them without or mercy(if they fly-they die)--I still feel that even a *(&^-bird deserves a clean kill and sudden airborne death- so mine's a 12- Would like to shoot 1 oz. 2.5" B&P or RST shells if that's "top form, olde boy" with you!! Hon-Ho!!

I'm afraid I can only offer guns from my own inventory.
Surely have at least one that you wouldn't be ashamed to be photographed with?!
