I just asked this on the post about Walmart's but I thought I would ask again. Has anyone heard anything about the Chinese who supposedly hired Galazan's head gunsmith a few years ago? The story/rumor was that within the next few years, the Chinese would be making world class shotguns for under $1000.00. Anyone heard any more about this or was it just a line?

Just a rumor as well, but I did hear that they plan on importing/smuggling them in the trunks of the new 09 line of GM SUV's.

We may mock, but beware of this Industrial Nation. Here in the UK when I was born we had 36% of the World manufacturing market, now 60 years later, according to Trade & Industry figures we now have 13% and I am bossed around by young Uni Pricks who 'have a bright future' but never made anything except errors. You do not need a degree in Britain to get on, you just need a copious supply of tongue toilet paper.

They can make whatever they want, I don't even buy guns/rifles from the whole of Europe. No matter what the Chinese make - I'll nix it!
Just Brits, and Americans fill my cabinet.
I like guns from the friendly nations.

Jimmy,
I doubt that they'll go for the "world class" market. Most of Chinese manufacturing is pointed toward the low-middle market. The high-end manufacturing that's being supported by their government is more strategic, like cars and airplanes.

Substitute current Remington or Winchester (or take your pick)for Chinese and and it's the same mass market stuff.

The local Red Wing dealer is down to about 3 shoes on the shelf that are made in USofA. Warned the owner last week when those are gone, I will be, too. The Chicom (always call them exactly what they are, Chinese communists, an enemy of freedom loving people all over the planet, lest people forget and think more along the lines of something from the show "Kung Fu", wise, gentle, peaceloving, and all that Hollywood BS) stuff costs just a bit less, but, has to be profitable as hell for him.
A Chicom double? I remember the Chicom model 37 and 870 clones on the shelf at the local independant dealer. Yuk. Does anyone really question whether a legit Remington 870 or Ithaca 37 is better than it's Chicom clone? And, perhaps a better question-why in hell would you buy a gun made in a country that forbids almost all who live there from ever owning one?
Best,
Ted

how do you define a legitmate remington 870? I would hope you are not reffering to the exspress models....total crap no matter where they are made. One of the few guns I see regularly that come from the factory broken. Now a vintage wingmaster is another story completely. It is a sad story regarding the quality of product that is currently being produced by Remington.

Perhaps we should not mention the Chicom made AK47 that is being used against our boys using the good old reliable M16 and SA80?

Folks I don't want to have to state the obvious but I feel I must!! Almost EVERYTHING built in the U.S.A. is at the highest percentage allowed by law of Other country parts. Mexico,Canada, Japan, China, Pakistan where ever. Take a look at ANY U.S. manufacturer & you will find that 40 percent is made Elsewear.! That Includes even Harley Davidson!! Now look at your Highend guns. Weatherby, Browning, Winchester, Colt,Most of these firearms are made in Japan!!!Weatherby is, browning is asembled in belgium but the parts still come from Japan, Winchester is now made in Japan!!!
Sorry folks but if you are trying to buy american you better buy a Toyota Truck. Most of those are produced here. More so than G.M. or Ford!! Sorry but thats just the way things are now. YES it sucks & NO I do NOT like it but we can not change it. we need to start moving into a nation of high tech inteligance or we will soon become a third world nation!
