I just received a call from Galazans that the gun is ready to ship. It weighs 6lb, 7oz. I'll post additional reports once I receive it next week.

The RBL Light 12 arrived today. I ordered it on June 14. It got lost in preparation for a show for about a week; otherwise it would have arrived just about two months after placing the order. On my postal scale, it weighs 6lb, 11 oz rather than Galazan's 6 lb 7 oz. My scales agree with the local post office and I had guessed the weight at 6-12 before I put it on a scale. I'm not disappointed in the weight. The gun balances about an inch ahead of the hinge pin, just about the center of the gun. The dynamic balance, or moment of interia, is about right with most of the gun's weight between the hands. Overall the wood has better figure than I had expected as I would have thought plain wood would be lighter. The grain is completely filled, and the wood finish is perfect as far as I can see. I like the french gray (coin finish) receiver as my guns quickly look like that anyway with carrying. The only complaint I have so far is that the straight grip stock is a little fat through the wrist, as I have small hands. I'll have to shoot the gun tomorrow to see if it shoots where it looks. Here is one shot of the gun and a link to an album of photos: http://s396.photobucket.com/albums/pp48/Vol423/RBL%2012GA/

I shot the gun today and am happy to report that it is properly regulated. Both barrels shoot where the gun is pointed and the patterns are about 4 inches above aim at 20 yards. That's good for me as I shoot mostly rising birds. Shot size ranged from No 4 through 8 and everything patterned about as expected. My patterning was not scientific but several large packing boxes gave their all for these patterns. I have the IC and full choke tubes installed and probably won't change them except for doves and deer. I even shot some 00 buckshot as I do occasionally hunt deer in a buckshot area in Virginia. At 40 yards a deer doesn't have a chance with the Full barrel. I believe that if necessary it would do fine service with 3" shells for turkey. The 14-1/4" LOP is fine in shirt sleeves but the plate may have to come off for cooler weather. Overall I am pleased with the gun as a general all-round gun that can take heavy charges when needed.

Looks great! 6-11 seems about right for a hunting 12. That was a fast delivery too. Good hunting with it!

Your standard wood looks much nicer than the upgraded wood on my 20. I always heard this as a complaint as well, and feared that I'd balk at the thicker grip, especially compared to my Arrieta's svelt, diamond wrist. The funny thing is that I actually prefer the the thicker RBL wrist, I'm 6'2" with larger hands so the RBL 's wrist provides me more control. I was never a proponent of the RBL, until I held and shot one. Now I'm a solid convert.
