I was lucky enough to get a few photos of this bird while on a recent trip to Sweden. I am not sure which bird it is . Help from you experts would be appreciated. Such a beautiful thing.

Daryl, The bird is the Capercaille.This bird is also found in Scotland. F.Y.I.It is recorded that D.C.H.McLean killed two driven birds with one shot from a 20G August 29 1936, at alocation in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

"Urogallo" is the name in spanish.
50-60 years ago they were relatively abundant in northern Spain and you can hunt them. My grandfather hunts them!!!

Somewhere on this board there are a few photos of Geno with a capercaillie and I also thing Gregoriy has posted links to some amazing videos of one that was especially bold. Great viewing.
