Peer review is what it is, the best of a bad bunch. That said, as an author and editor of scientific publications, I could care less what spell checking one uses or much of anything to do with that. Peers are chosen on the basis of ability to judge the work.
And one should not confuse the ability to judge with the ability to perform. I know good music in certain genres when I hear it. But I can't play. I can judge good woodworking, though I'm personally mediocre on a good day. And I don't know of a single sports coach that is, or ever was, a tenth as good as his superstar player.
Don't over think the little star system here. This forum "is what it is" stars or no. I like it, so I'm not going to worry about my short star count. In fact, Joe, I'd give you my two if I could.
