Like I said, everyone is entitled to their own opinion but no one is entitled to their own facts. Very few if any firearm has accomplished as much as the Model 12.

Thanks for the kind thoughts B-B, but you done come to de goat house lookin' for wool- I ain't qualified to Host any BBS- or even BS website thangs--I am a computer schmuck--and will gladly admit it-

About all I know how to do today is both shuck, shoot and field strip a m12- and at my age and stage in life, that's good enuf for me (maybe not Bobby McGee?)-- So I won't be your: "Host With Da Most"-- would you believe the "heest with the least?""_

For myself, I find the 31 trumps the 870.

Depends on what you are doing with it. The 31 is a "finer" gun but not necessarily a "better" gun. The 870 is more versatile, easier to clean and maintain, and there are lots of parts and accessories readily available. If I become the one-pumpgun-hillbilly that BB refers to, it will be with one of my 870s.

According to military repair shop records in WWII, the 31 required less service. Oh, also own a couple 37s in 16 and a 12 16ga.

Haven't hunted the 12 yet; not sure I want to. Might like it better than my 37s. smirk

Love my chunk-a-chunka model 12s. Learned to shoot by practicing Skeet with my cousin's 12ga with a Cutts. Ran my first 25 with a WS-1 that I'd borrowed. Now have several, including a solid rib WS-1 with a Cutts.
They don't get any more classic than that.
Love my doubles, but if I had to feed the family, The Model 12 would win out.
