It's a 16ga. field gun. 16ga. on a 20 ga. frame. Near perfection, as far as a trombone goes.

Those who bash, really should branch out. There is a whole wide world out there.

Now, the demise of the M-12 was the Remington 870.

It has merits also, and not just as an industrial triumph.

If you are truly honest with yourself, shoot both guns, skip the Winchester nostalgia, and evaluate from a pure shootability viewpoint...

The 870 wins. It won in the marketplace too, and it wasn't even close.
