What caliber Mauser used a slanted magazine box? Friend bought out a gunsmiths estate and everything is scattered hither and yon and he is trying to put things back together.

Siamese mausers used a slanted magazine box. They used rimmed cartridges but I don't remember the specific dimensions.

This is a Mauser sporter and not the Siamese military.

Gun has a very nice sporter stock but is missing the barrel. Appears to be original Mauser sporter.I have never seen so many guns in pieces.Apparently he took stuff apart and forgot what went where. He was over 90 when he passed a couple of years ago.

Ok. We'll start looking at barrels of barrels to see if we find one.At least everything has a nice coat of grease on it.

I don't know if Mauser offered them as sporters chambered in 303British or just sold the actions to the Brit companys and they bbld them. The slant magazine edition was a favorite of the Brits for 303 and other 'flanged' cases

while I agree the .303 used a slant box, I believe that the step ring is magnum action and was not used on the .303.

These step ring magnum actions were the first magnums Mauser made and them delivered to Rigby with slanted magazine in 1899-1900. The cartridge was rimmed .400/350. Slanted magazines was later made for Rigby "short" intermediate action too. The caliber was .303 British.
