I ordered hand tools at least 8 months ago, luckily my card has not been billed. I have called and emailed to no avail. The last time I ordered tools it took a long time so I tried to order long before my tools were worn out. Well, they're getting worn out, now what.....

Dennis, as far as I know, there is no other option. I have been seriously considering contacting a carbide tooling company and having my own tools made up. I only use the hand tools though. If I do it, I'll let you know......

I filed a comlaint with the Norfolk Dist Attn office of consumer affairs. The person there to contact is Janice Garrett@ 413 774 5102.If she hears from more people who've been bilked by Jon Doiron, she should be compelled to take some action. Those od you who know other victims should encourage them to speak up.Our only satisfaction may be to know we've caused this guy some discomfort. If I lived closer, I'd give him a personal visit.

I also caled the Athol Police Dept. and ended up speaking with Officer Cummings who called J&R and was told there had been delays due to equipment problems. I'm certain this claim is not true. If Officer Cummings got a few more calls, maybe he could
drop by J&R or relay our complaints to the DA.It sounds as if the dollar amount of swindle here must have reached felony level.

I have a quote request in with a tooling company and would like to take a quick poll. To those looking for hand tools - what lengths, cutter degree angles and teeth orientation (push/pull) do you need? I'm willing to put together and market tools if it comes to it. It looks like it is either do this or go back to steel tools and I really don't want to do that.

Feel free to email off list if you like - dan@classicgunstocks.com

Best, Dan

Dan; 90 degree and 75 degree have been the product angles from J&R for 30 years. That's what I am use to. I use both pull and push hand tools single line. Segments most used are 5/8" long with 2 degree radius for edges, 3/16" segment for defining lines, 1/16" for tight corners. The handles can be bent to any configuration later. I talked to some people about EDM production for this purpose. No money currently to pursue...good fortune in helping out the industry.

I recently saw a photo of a worker at FN that was using an unusual power tool; the cutter was mounted like a cutoff wheel on a flex shaft tool, and lies perpendicular to the axis of the hand piece, not parallel as is the case with MMC and J&R tools. This set up looks simpler and more trouble free than conventional American tools. I wonder where this tool could be procured????

I returned home yesterday to find a package from J&R in my mail. He inclosed a very businesslike statement showing I'd paid in full and as if he'd been thorough and attentive with my order. A couple weeks ago He e-mailed to say he'd come across my cutters during spring cleaning and would get them out right away.I'll never know what all this was about and it's gone on so long I've ceased to care much one way or another. Thanks for your commisseration. If there develops an alternative to this incompetent outfit, I trust it will get a notice on this site.

Thanks for the update Bill.
I'm sure the frustration and screwedness levels were to high to be completely alleviated, but at least you got something back... and told us about it.
Best to all for the 4th!
