That would be the mark of Alfred Reignier who was controller from 1937-1964. I am guessing here, but if this gun was proofed in 1938, they may not have had time to finish applying the rest of the proof marks because of invasion.

So, having gone that far out on a limb, I would guess it was proofed in '38.

I will search my references for a model #.

Pete

Pete, looks like a model #410 to me

Pete, if you are correct on the proof dates, sounds like it might be one of the last Damascus barreled guns from Pieper.

Sam, for value depending on condition I would guess between $200 and $600. Not much of a market for these IMHO Probably a better gun than selling value would indicate.

Thought I'd hijack this thread seeing it was the last Pieper one with Pieper's Actionless double. At times one thinks they have seen just about everything and an inquiry comes in and upsets the apple cart.

Note French proof

If anyone objects or thinks it is worthy of a separate thread, I'll start one.

Kind Regards

Raimey, while I'm not the OP, it is a Pieper so it doesn't seem to be too much of a highjack.

I saw the actionless Pieper on littlegun about 5 years ago and then noticed that in the Bayard book by Druart which I just got, he devotes about 8 or so pages to it.

Thanks & I hope to have image soon. Word on the street is that the Actionless Pieper was made in Paris on a promotional effort or sorts, of at least proofed in Paris and that none were made in Liege. I can't say for now just parroting.

Kind Regards,
