I stopped by the local gun emporium today and saw two old doubles on the used rack that I am not familiar with. I thought maybe someone here might know who made them. The first was a Delphia Arms 12 ga. that was stamped Peerless Steel on top of the right barrel and Made by Experts on top of the left. It was a boxlock gun with 28" barrels, tight, on face, perfect bores, and good stocks with semi-pistol grip and hard rubber buttplate. The asking price was $210.00 and the shop owner said he thought it was made by Crescent. I thought it looked a lot like a Hunter Arms Fulton.
The other gun was a Marshwood 12 ga. with 30" barrels and uncheckered non-original wood. It was also a boxlock, and looked less well finished than the Delphia. Strangely, it was priced a lot higher at $330.00. The owner also thought this one was made by Crescent too. Any thoughts on these? I was tempted to buy the Delphia Arms gun just because it seemed quite reasonably priced for any sound double.
