Can any one give me some info on a Win. 21 20ga /28ga. aluminum frame prototype. Serial # ALEX 1. I've heard the seller's story and saw the invoice from Win. but need to know more. Anyone ??? Thank you, Paul

If that's the same gun Bass Pro has for sale on Guns Int, it has been for sale forever. If you are interested you should contact the Buffalo Bill historical society who houses the Win 21 records and see what they know. If they have records on that gun and it is legitimate I would think it a rare bird indeed.

Check with Pauline Muerrle, former winchester custom shop engraver.
She has records that Cody does not have, and can tell you if a Cody or Winchester letter is authentic. The Cody Museum's records on 21's are sometimes suspect. Many have been altered.

Thanks guys but we've tried those sources. Along with Mr. Ulrich. What we have found out is that there were 2 such frames produced but one failed proof. After that the remaining gun fell off the radar. With a very unclear history. The pink shipping invoice shows it came from Winchester but that is about all. I won'd say what I speculate but would love to see a clear record of its journey. My best bet now is to try to trace it backwards.
