There has been a discussion about the origin of W Wellington
shotguns on this Board. I recieved the following from Graham
Greener this morning. FYI
"W Wellington was a name used by W W Greener on his guns for
the wholesale expoxt market in the United States os America.
We know this from an advertisement in the second edition of his
book Modern breechloaders,Sporting and Military published in
1874 which gives the addressof W Wellington as 62 Loveday Street,Birmingham. From 1863 W W Greener operated his gunmaking
buisness from both 61 and 63 Loveday Street and the names on the gates of each entrance were: W W Greener, Gun and Rifle
Maker and the W Wellington Greener,Gunmaker. So it is clear
he used the NameW Wellington from about 1863 to well into
the 1870's."
