Gripping different sporting accessories can be looked at different ways. Usually, the shaft of a golf club or handle of a bat is in a straight line, no ninety degree bend. Even if palms may face in different directions, in some way or another, they line up in at least some fashion.

Even the boxing jab could get confusing. Doesn't the palm start out facing to the side, then end up facing down at the end of the punch. A jab is pretty much thrown along a straight line though, but the punch is supposed to be pronated.

There have been so many monstrous advertising failures, that I'd question whether the world was hoodwinked into buying over unders. Seems pretty easy to follow the equipment choices of pro gunners through history, lucky for me I can choose almost anything for recreational shooting.
