We'll be spending several weeks in Sweden in May and June and I was wondering if there are gunshops, auctions, collectors, or museums that I might make contact with. A google of the gunshop/auction subject came up with very little. Thank you for any suggestions.

This link is for one of the oldest shooting clubs in Sweden. I contacted them because I found a bunch of their old award badges here in Butte MT. They were very nice and gave me the history and of the badges. I am sure they would know any and all gun shops in Sweden. You may even want to visit them and see what the members have for sale.

Our member and my friend Ken Buch has slowed down his importation of neat old guns from the Scandinavian countries, including Sweden. However, he would be your best bet for information, and he speaks the language. He knows all there is to know about this area of the world. His website is kebcollc.com. Please tell him Bill Murphy recommended him for advice. We are former neighbors in MD, but he has relocated north of the Mason Dixon Line.

Lochlan, thanks. I'll contact them. It would be fun to see what your badges are like. Daryl

Here are some pictures of the badges. All date from the late teens and are pure silver. I could not find the dates at first, the S&L shooting club told me where to look, the stampings are on the edge of the medals. [img:center] DSCN1453 by vytautus, on Flickr[/img]

Sounds like a great trip Daryl. I have some cousins in Sweden I've never met. While you're there, perhaps you can find out if there are any husqvarna collections/collectors of note.

FYI I used to call on Husqvarna in the town of Huskvarna and visited there museum. The firearms portion of the exhibit is very limited as most of the product related to their consumer products ie sewing machines, cycles, motor cycles, forestry equip and outdoor power equipment. I am not sure if the Museum is even open to general public.

I believe the Husqvarna museum is open to the public and they have a special display setup now to honor the 100th anniversary of the Model 310 shotgun. I wish I could see it in person.

There is a large firearms auction sponsored by Widforss in mid-May. They are just starting to list the items that will be up for sale. Here is a link to their website. http://www.widforss.se/

There are also lots of gun dealers with websites in Sweden. Try googling "Husqvarna vapen". If that doesn't work for you send me a PM, I have a bunch saved in my favorites list.

I must warn you that getting any firearms purchases home will be an issue. With the help of some friends of mine, I have a network of export dealers in Sweden and an import dealer in the US that knows how to work the license issues and even then it takes on the order of a year to have gun in hand in the US.
